Developmental Editing

Ready for an in-depth critique? Developmental editing is for the author who has completed a couple rounds of self-edits and is ready for a professional review of their story. We’ll look at the overall story, the structure, your characters, and plot. We’ll ask questions and provide recommendations to help you strengthen your manuscript.

Alpha/Beta Reading

Starting at $40/hour | Get a quote

This isn’t just basic feedback. We’ll take a deep-dive into your manuscript and complete an in-depth critique of your story and writing before submitting a full report.

How is this different from developmental editing?

Rather than providing edits or suggestions, a beta reader’s report will focus on the reader’s experience. This service is recommended for later in your drafting process. A beta reader is a test reader. We’ll pretend we picked your book up off the shelf and tell you our experience as a reader.

Proofreading

Don’t let split infinitives and comma splices get in the way of the incredible world you created. Proofreaders are your last line of defense against spelling and grammar errors. We use the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) and can use the Associated Press (AP) manual upon request.

Resume Review

Job searches are nerve-racking enough. We’ll iron out the kinks so you can submit a professional resume, cover letter, CV, or portfolio to land that dream job.

Sensitivity Reading

Sensitivity readers are important, especially for authors touching on topics and communities outside their experience. Below are the communities we can read for. While we can’t speak for every member of these communities, we can look out for phrases, words, actions, and thoughts that might not resonate with your readers or may be unintentionally offensive.
